Direct Action Spitfire QR Plate Carrier
The Direct Action Spitfire QR Plate Carrier is a lightweight, highly modular plate carrier designed for professional users who require mobility, scalability and the ability to rapidly remove their equipment when necessary.
Building on the proven Spitfire platform, the QR version introduces an integrated Quick Release system with Duraflex® QRS buckles on both the shoulders and cummerbund. This allows the complete carrier to be rapidly released, making it particularly useful for operations around water, casualty treatment, vehicle operations and other situations where equipment may need to be removed quickly. Direct Action also designed the system so the carrier can be reassembled after release.
Lightweight and Durable Construction
The Spitfire QR combines Cordura® 500D, Nylon 210D laminate, laser-cut laminate and softshell materials to create a durable carrier while keeping overall weight low. The laser-cut construction provides MOLLE/PALS mounting capability without relying on extensive traditional sewn webbing.
At approximately 518 g in size L, the Spitfire QR remains an exceptionally lightweight platform despite incorporating the complete quick-release system.
Integrated Quick Release System
The defining feature of the Spitfire QR is its integrated Duraflex® QRS Quick Release system.
Quick-release buckles are positioned at the shoulders and cummerbund, allowing the carrier and attached equipment to be rapidly removed without having to individually undo multiple parts of the setup.
This can be particularly valuable when:
- Rapid access to an injury is required
- Removing equipment during casualty treatment
- Operating in or around water
- Entering or exiting confined vehicles
- Rapidly removing a complete load-bearing setup

Modular Spitfire Platform
The Spitfire QR is designed as a scalable system rather than simply a standalone plate carrier. It can be configured from a relatively minimalist carrier into a more complete load-bearing platform using compatible front flaps, back panels, cummerbunds and other accessories.
The front supports removable flaps and compatible chest-rig interfaces, while the rear incorporates compatibility with Crye Precision AVS-style zip-on back panels. Compatible chest-rig systems include solutions from Mayflower/Velocity Systems and similar platforms.
Direct Action also offers dedicated Spitfire accessories including the Spitfire Triple Rifle Magazine Flap, Spitfire Side SAPI Mount, Spitfire Comms Wing and Spitfire MK II Backpack Panel.
Cable and Hydration Management
Integrated routing channels allow communication cables and hydration tubes to be routed through the plate carrier while keeping the setup organized.
Additional radio wings, side armor and other components can be incorporated depending on mission requirements, allowing the Spitfire QR to accommodate both communications-heavy and armor-focused configurations.
